Susie Barrow

“Painting for me is a 'tactile' sensory experience. Being in the moment, working with my hands, connecting with the materials, being bold and expressive. Playing and experimenting. Letting the work show me what it wants. Release. Freedom,” says Susie Barrow, a British artist living in Italy. Susie is famous as a painter of fantastic sea depths and landscapes. She creates her paintings in an unusual way – usually without a brush, pouring or dripping paint, touching the canvas with her fingers.

The artist lives a quiet life by the sea: she paints, grows vegetables, enjoys Italian cuisine and wine, and walks and swims a lot. She says that it inspires her to create. "I adore animals and Native American philosophy, and I just love a good giggle: one of life's necessities!” Susie says.
